Yesterday was a disaster for Tom. His day started badly when he woke up and saw the time. It was already 8:30 AM! He had forgotten to set his alarm the night before. He jumped out of bed, but it was too late. When he got to the kitchen, his family had already eaten breakfast and left for the day. There was just a single cold piece of toast on a plate.
He rushed to the train station, but when he arrived, he saw the train pulling away. He had missed it by just a few minutes. He felt frustrated because he had left home with plenty of time, but the traffic was terrible. By the time the next train arrived, he was already an hour late for work.
When he finally got to his office, his boss was waiting for him. "Tom, you missed the important morning meeting," she said. Tom felt terrible. He hadn't checked his calendar that morning because he was in such a hurry. He explained that his alarm hadn't gone off.
Later that afternoon, he realized he couldn't find his presentation notes. He looked everywhere. Then he remembered: he had left them on the kitchen table that morning. He felt a huge wave of regret. If only he had been more organized the night before, none of this would have happened.
